From Tolmin, head toward Kobarid. In Kobarid, continue along the main road, past the Petrol gas station and past the right-hand turn toward the Planika dairy, until you reach a large T-intersection, where you turn left and follow the road to the first possible right turn. Continue just a few dozen meters further down the street, and you’ll see a large, well-maintained parking lot on your left, where you can park.
Trail description:From the parking lot, turn left, past the red building. Continue for a few meters, then cross the street at the intersection (toward the post office) and turn right immediately after the first house on the right. Continue along the street until a narrow stone road branches off to the left; turn onto it. Climb up the stone road, past the last houses, and continue into the forest. The road turns into a trail that begins to climb immediately. Follow the signs for Stol. After a long climb, you’ll reach a fork in the trail, where you should keep left (sign for Stol). Continue the steep ascent along the trail, which eventually leads to a hunting cabin. Pass by it; a sign there directs you onto an ascending path that soon leads to a cart track. Join the cart track, turn left, and continue climbing along it until a signpost for Stol directs you left onto a narrow path. We join the trail and continue the ascent until the trail leads us out of the forest onto pastureland. The route then follows a grassy trail, offering wonderful views along the way. At a larger fork marked with signs, we continue to follow the direction toward Stol. The trail eventually turns into a mule track. Along the way, we’ll pass another hunting cabin. We follow the trail all the way to the Hleka bivouac, which is not far from the hunting cabin.
