From Šentjernej we head towards Pleterje, Šmarje. When you arrive in the village of Šmarje, you will see a church and a cemetery on your left and signs leading you to the right for Vrhpolje. We pass through the villages of Šmarje, Dolenje Vrhpolje and Gorenje Vrhpolje. When you arrive in Cerov Log, turn left at the bus stop. Drive for about 2 minutes until you reach a football field on the left (Gabrje on the right). Continue straight ahead and you will soon reach a quarry, from which you will continue for another 10 minutes or so. When you reach the only crossroads in the forest, continue straight ahead to the parking area (starting point Pendirjevka).

From the car park, continue uphill on the left towards Gorjance (past the former partisan war hospital), on the right a steep path to Gorjance. The path leads through the forest and starts to climb. During the ascent, the path has a few switchbacks, so follow the markings that lead you safely upwards. After about 30 minutes, we reach the former partisan war hospital, where a memorial plaque now stands. Continue along the marked path, which climbs and after about ten minutes leads to a macadam road. Continue along the road (left). Signs then direct you left up the hill. Walk in the forest for another 30 minutes and follow the signs. You will soon reach the barracks at Trdinov Top (on the left). We continue along the dirt road and soon arrive at the top.
