From Šentjernej we head towards Pleterje, Šmarje. When you arrive in the village of Šmarje, you will see a church and a cemetery on your left and signs leading you to Pleterje and Javorovica (turn left). When you get to the marked crossroads, still follow the signs for Javorovica (right Carthusiast Church Pleterje, straight ahead Javorovica). Then drive for another 10 minutes and arrive in the village of Javorovica, where you park near the memorial to the fallen fighters.

From the car park, start walking uphill along the marked path. After a few minutes of walking, you will reach a small forest. When you come out of the forest, a clearing opens up in front of you. Follow the marked path to a fence. Cross the fence and after walking for ten minutes you will reach the forest. After crossing the fence again, there are two paths in front of us (the path from Njivce or Praga joins from the right), and we continue straight ahead. The walk through the forest takes about 20 minutes. When we come out of the forest, we see a clearing in front of us. There is a small climb through the clearing. When you reach a crossroads, continue to the right (straight ahead - the top of Špilerjeva špica). Walk for about five minutes through the forest and then you will arrive at a clearing. At the crossroads, continue right towards the forest. There is a short marked climb through the forest. In the forest, keep to the right (Kostanjevica on the left). When you come out of the forest, you will see a hunting observation post on the left (be careful here), because you have to turn left into the forest (it is marked, but you can miss it). Walk for about half an hour and you will arrive at Pliješ (there is also a stamp here). You can continue the trail here to the left or to the right. The left path is shorter, as the right path is a circle. You will arrive in the forest again, where there is a longer descent. Soon you will reach the Vodice mountain hut, where there are signs for the Sopote waterfall. Continue following the signs along the stream and after a good half an hour you will reach the waterfall.
