Drive to Tolmin and, at the main traffic-light-controlled intersection, turn toward Zatolmin (turn right if coming from Škofja Loka, and left if coming from Nova Gorica). Once you arrive in Zatolmin, stay on the main road and follow the signs for Čadrg and the Tolmin Gorges. Drive along the road, past the Tolminska Korita snack bar, over Hudičev Most, and continue along the winding, uphill road, past Dante’s Cave to the village of Zadlaz–Čadrg. Continue along the road through the village as long as there are houses along the way. Once the houses end, you’ll soon notice a sharp left turn—turn here. Then continue along the road for a while, all the way to the Pr’ Jakču summer garden. Immediately after that, you’ll see a small, unmarked parking lot on your right; park there.

Shortly past the Pr Jakču summer garden, you’ll see a parking lot on your right along the road. Continue on foot; from the parking lot, you’ll notice a narrow path that turns onto a meadow. Turn onto it, and it will soon lead you into the forest. Here, the trail makes a single turn, which is marked by a signpost with a cross. The forest trail will lead you to the summit of Kobilnik. Along the way, you’ll have two more turns, which will again be marked by signposts with a cross. You’ll recognize the summit of Kobilnik by the cross. From here, continue along the trail, which remains fairly level for quite some time. At first, it runs through the forest, but later leads out onto meadows. Upon reaching the meadows, the hike along the ridge begins, with alternating ascents and descents. When you reach the edge of the forest, you’ll cross a pasture fence, and immediately after that, you’ll come to a fork in the trail. Take the right-hand path, which first descends slightly for a few dozen meters, then levels off and continues in this manner for the next few minutes. After you pass a small stream on your left, the trail begins to climb again, and the ascent continues until you reach a meadow with a fork in the trail. Take the right path, which leads toward Planina Kal. This path soon turns back into the forest. Continue along the forested trail, which soon begins to climb again. After a few minutes of walking, the winding ascent leads you out of the forest, where a beautiful view of Planina Kal opens up. All that remains is the final climb to the mountain pasture.
