From Tolmin, drive towards Most na Soči. Turn left here and drive along the main road for a long distance, almost to the village of Reka. Just before the settlement, another road will branch off to the left, going uphill, and turn left (signpost for Zakojca). Drive to the large fork before Bukovi, where you turn right. Follow the road to the pass, which you will recognise by the junction of the major roads and the numerous signs.
Trail description:From the car park, follow the road towards Porezno (signposted). There is a longer ascending walk on a dirt road. When you reach another car park, the road will turn and you will start descending. At the end of the descent, the road becomes flat and leads out of the forest. There is a sharp turn to the right and you cross a pasture gate. You will then follow the path up to a small hunting lodge, which you pass on the right and continue walking uphill. Soon the path will fork and you take the right-hand path, which will take you quickly up to Otavnik.
