If you’re coming from Nova Gorica, drive all the way to Tolmin and through the town, heading toward Most na Soči. Once you cross the bridge over the Tolminka River, the road takes a sharp right. After driving about 200 meters, turn left toward the village of Žabče. Somewhere in the middle of the village, the road forks; take the upper, right-hand path toward Zadlaz. Continue straight ahead (about 15–20 minutes) along a very winding, narrow road. Along the way, we cross the Zadlaščica River. Our destination is the Tolmin Plains, where there is also a marked parking lot. We park here and continue on foot.
Trail description:The trail takes us past a charming, narrow, and tall stone house along a fenced road. Once we cross the barrier, the trail soon turns into a grassy path. We continue along it until we reach a fork in the trail. We take the left path (signposted for Planina Kal). From here on, we continue along an ascending forest trail, initially following the signs for Planina Kal. When you reach a fork marked with signposts (left: Planina Kal, Krn; right: Razor Mountain Hut), turn right toward Razor Mountain. The trail then follows a gentle stretch, during which you’ll briefly reach the edge of the forest and can enjoy beautiful views. When the trail enters the forest again, it soon forks. Keep to the right and continue walking across the flat terrain. The trail leads to grassy areas; cross them, and you’ll arrive at the Razor Mountain Hut. From here, descend to the right along a cart track, and soon, at a marked fork, turn right toward Tolminske Ravne (45 min). At first, you’ll walk across a meadow, but the trail soon enters the forest again. A longer descent along a gravel path follows. During the descent, watch for a fork in the trail that is difficult to see. Here, you must take the less visible path and not continue to the right. The next fork will be just a few meters before the iron gate. Here, turn right and go through the gate. Continue along the trail, which alternates between descents and flat sections, until you reach the spot where you parked.
