Drive to Tolmin and, at the main traffic-light-controlled intersection, turn toward the village of Zatolmin. Once you reach Zatolmin, turn right past the Zatolmin restaurant toward the Tolmin Gorges. From there, drive just a few dozen meters, and at the next possible fork—right before the Gugala cheese factory—turn left. From there, follow the road, which turns into a gravel road past the Church of St. Peter. A longer drive through the forest follows, which, after about half an hour, brings us to a fork where the road to Sv. Duh na Javorci branches off to the left; but we continue straight ahead for a few dozen meters, all the way to the barrier on the road, in front of which we park.

From the parking lot, continue straight along the gravel road, past the barrier. Along the way, you’ll soon pass the Polog mountain pasture and continue along the road all the way to the fork, which is located just as you enter the forest. Turn left toward the source of the Tolminka River. The initially flat gravel path soon begins to climb. A long walk follows along this path, which winds the entire way. When the path levels out, you’ll reach a livestock fence and pass through the gate. A few steps beyond it, you’ll reach a fork where you turn right and descend to the source of the Tolminka River, where a hunting cabin is also located. We then cross pasture meadows; at the edge of the forest, we turn right, cross a small bridge over the river, and reach a fork in the trail, where we turn right. We walk for a short while on level ground, after which the trail forks again. Again, take the right path, which soon begins to descend toward the Prode mountain pasture. The trail continues on the lower side of the pasture, where it re-enters the forest. At first, it descends slightly; then we walk along level ground, but when it emerges from the forest again, it begins to descend more steeply and leads us all the way to a footbridge, which we use to cross the Tolminka River. A short ascent follows, after which we reach the fork where we initially turned left toward the source of the Tolminka. Here, too, we turn left, back toward the Polog mountain pasture and on to our starting point.
