Drive to Tolmin and, at the main traffic-light-controlled intersection, turn toward the village of Zatolmin. When you reach Zatolmin, turn right past the Zatolmin restaurant toward the Tolmin Gorges. From there, drive just a few dozen meters, and at the next possible fork—right before the Gugala cheese factory—turn left. From there, follow the road, which turns into a gravel road past the Church of St. Peter. A longer drive through the forest follows, which, after about half an hour, brings us to a fork where the road to Sv. Duh na Javorci branches off to the left, while we continue straight ahead for a few dozen meters, all the way to the barrier on the road, in front of which we park.

From the parking lot, continue straight along the gravel road, past the barrier. Along the way, you’ll soon pass the Polog mountain pasture and continue along the road all the way to the fork, which is located just as you enter the forest. Turn right toward the Prode mountain pasture. The trail quickly descends to the river and a cart, which you can use to cross it. A longer ascent through a less wooded area follows. The terrain levels off somewhat as we re-enter the forest; here we pass by former military bunkers before arriving at the Prode mountain pasture. We find the trail continuing on the left side of the mountain pasture and begin a longer climb toward the source of the Tolminka. Just before reaching the spring, the forest trail we’ve been following joins a cart track and crosses a small bridge. We then emerge from the forest, where pasturelands open up to the left; we walk across them to the spring, where there is also a hunting cabin. We find the path continuing behind the cabin. It initially climbs to a fork in the trail, where we turn left and walk past a cattle fence. This is followed by a lengthy descent along the cart track, which leads us to the fork where, at the start of the trail, we turned right toward the Prode mountain pasture. Now we continue straight ahead along the trail, which leads us to our starting and ending point—the Srednica mountain pasture.
