From Tolmin, head toward Nova Gorica. Shortly after the “End of Tolmin” sign, you’ll cross a large bridge over the Soča River; immediately after the bridge, a narrow road branches off to the left—take that road. Continue along the road for a few dozen meters until you see the Labrca restaurant on your right. Park in the parking lot on the left side of the road; however, since the parking lot is reserved for restaurant guests and visitors to the Maya sports tourism facility, look for a suitable parking spot a little further down the road.
Trail description:We head back from the parking lot, but only as far as the junction where another road branches off to the right; we turn there, guided by a signpost. We join a gravel road and pass under a bridge. The route then continues across gentle terrain, and we follow the very clear and densely placed directional signs the entire time. Eventually, these signs direct us to the right onto a narrow path that runs along the river, crossing two small bridges along the way. We continue along this trail until it joins a gravel road. We follow the road for a short while, then a trail branches off to the left, which we take. A short, moderate climb follows, leading to a meadow and a walk under yet another bridge. From here on, the trail soon almost joins the main road, but before that happens, it turns right and begins to climb. When the trail levels off, it becomes a dirt road and goes around a farm on the left. We continue along the dirt road until it joins the paved road. From here, we head into the village, where we keep to the left at the fork and walk toward a small grocery store. Next, cross the road and walk a short distance along the main road; then a narrower road branches off to the right, and we join it. We walk along this road to the cemetery and the landfill, and at the fork past the landfill, we turn left, heading back toward the parking lot. It’s just a few more minutes’ walk to our destination—or rather, the starting point of the trail.
