From Tolmin, head toward Kobarid. In the town, shortly after the gas station on the left side of the road, turn right and continue along the road leading toward Napoleon’s Bridge. We do not cross the bridge, but instead continue straight ahead on the road until we see a small parking lot on the right side of the road, which we’ll recognize by the sign for Tonec Castle on the left side of the road. We park here.
Trail description:We walk back a few meters along the road (toward the sign for Tonec Castle), but we’re very careful as we have to walk along the main road. We also cross the road. Next comes a climb up steep steps, after which the path levels out and becomes a forest trail that we follow all the way to the fork in the trail. Here, we turn left, as indicated by the sign. Next comes a climb up another set of steps—this time shorter—and we’ll reach our destination.
