Drive to Tolmin and, at the main traffic-light-controlled intersection, turn toward the village of Zatolmin. When you reach Zatolmin, turn right past the Zatolmin restaurant toward the Tolmin Gorges. From there, drive just a few dozen meters, and at the next possible fork—right before the Gugala cheese factory—turn left. From there, follow the road, which turns into a gravel road past the Church of St. Peter. A longer drive through the forest follows, which, after about half an hour, brings us to a fork where the road to Sv. Duh na Javorci branches off to the left, while we continue straight ahead for a few dozen meters, all the way to the barrier on the road, in front of which we park.
Trail description:We continue on foot along the road that leads past the barrier toward the Polog mountain pasture. At the Polog mountain pasture, we continue along the road all the way to a small grove, where a barely visible trail branches off to the left. Here, we turn and follow the grassy trail into the forest. We then walk through the forest along a trail that is sometimes hard to see. We follow the stone cairns all the way to the scree field located just outside the forest. We cross the scree field, after which the trail begins to climb steeply and continues to ascend for quite some time. Just before reaching the Lašca mountain pasture, grassy areas begin to appear, and wonderful views of the high mountains open up before us. All that remains is a mostly level, shorter section of the trail, and we’ll arrive at the mountain pasture.
