If you’re driving from Most na Soči toward Tolmin, follow the main road all the way to the fork, where the left road leads to Tolmin and the right road leads to Poljubin. Here, turn toward Tolmin, and after just a few hundred meters, turn right, following the sign for Žabče. Continue along the road, keeping to the right at the fork toward Zadlaz. This is followed by a drive along a narrow road through a compact village. Once you’ve passed through the village, there are a few hundred more meters of driving along a flat road flanked by pastures on both sides. When the pastures end and the forest gradually begins, you’ll notice a weekend cottage with a large garden on the right—turn right here and park along the road.
Trail description:We continue on foot, first past the gate along a forest trail, which after a few minutes’ walk leads us to a fork—on the right, a signpost points toward the Razor Mountain Hut, where we turn. A longer walk follows along a narrow forest trail that climbs gradually, winding frequently along the way. We stay on this trail all the way to a fork, where one path turns left, but we take the right path (which actually goes straight ahead). Here, the trail begins to climb somewhat more steeply, winding frequently along the way. After walking for a while, the trail will lead us to a fork. The straight path leads to a bench, which you’ll reach in about 2 minutes (this can be your intermediate destination—you’ll be treated to beautiful views here). We, however, choose the right-hand path, which immediately begins to climb more steeply. Eventually, the trail levels off, then continues with alternating gentle ascents, descents, and flat sections. The trail takes us past a mountain hut and a bench at the lookout point and soon reaches the Lom mountain pasture. From the Lom mountain pasture, we continue along the road that passes by the huts, onto a moderately ascending gravel road through the forest. We follow the road all the way to the Kuk mountain pasture, which lies right next to the trail. We continue along the road, which begins to climb past the huts. The road splits at a sharp bend—here, we keep to the left, staying on the main road. This road soon levels out and turns into the forest. We then continue through the forest for quite some time on level ground, all the way to a sign that directs us to the right into the forest—toward the hut at Planina Razor. When we reach the hut, we find the path continuing to the right behind it. Here, the trail turns into a small forest, but we’ll soon emerge from it onto a larger meadow. At the next fork, located in the middle of the meadow, turn left. The trail will initially lead through slightly higher dwarf pine thickets, where you’ll also reach the next fork. At this junction, take the right-hand path, which will lead you to a rocky, winding, ascending trail in about 10 minutes. The trail is a bit more challenging in this section, but wooden steps and handrails make it somewhat easier. After a long climb, this ascending trail will lead us directly to the summit.
