From Nova Gorica, head toward Tolmin. In town, at the traffic-light-controlled intersection, turn left toward Zatolmin. In the village, immediately past the restaurant on our left, we turn left at the fork in the road. We continue along the road all the way to Dolj, where we’ll see a playground on our left, with a parking lot next to it, where we’ll park.
Trail description:We continue on foot along the road, but only as far as the first road junction on the right, where we turn. We continue along the road through the village, but only as far as the turnoff onto a concrete road that branches off to the right. We turn onto the narrower road and follow it uphill to the first sign for Grofovo Vodo. The road takes us past a weekend cottage into the forest, onto a gravel road, which we follow all the way to Podoreh, located outside the forest. Turn left onto the path that leads back into the forest through a gate in the pasture. From here on, the trail is very well marked, so there’s no danger of getting lost. Stay on the gravel road for quite some time, until you notice a turnoff on the left side of the road, which is also indicated by a signpost for Mrzli vrh, near Petrovč. Turn here onto a narrow, ascending trail and follow it all the way to the next fork. At this fork, there’s a sign for Tolmin. Here, we turn left. We continue along the path for just a few dozen meters and then turn right onto a steep trail, as indicated by the trail marker. You’ll recognize the next turn by a large water trough; here, you must continue the trail above the trough (sign for Mrzli vrh). This is followed by an ascent along a narrow, steeply climbing path that first runs through the forest and later opens onto a grassy area. Follow the trail all the way to the summit, which you’ll recognize by a tall cross.
