From Tolmin, drive to the village of Zatolmin, and just before the Zatolmin restaurant, turn left. Continue along the road that passes through the village of Dolje toward Gabrje. Park along the road just past the Gabrje sign.
Trail description:We continue on foot into the village, but only as far as the first turnoff to the right, where we turn onto an uphill road that leads past a few houses, then levels off and becomes a dirt road. The dirt road passes a military chapel and a house with an old mill. Immediately past the mill, it crosses a small bridge and turns into a narrow grassy path. The trail leads us to another house, and right next to it are steps that we climb. Behind the house, we continue along the trail, which climbs moderately into the forest. In the forest, we come to a fork, where we turn right onto a steeply ascending path. After walking along this path for some time, we’ll reach a gravel road. We join the road and turn left. We then follow the gravel road, which leads us all the way to Podoreh, located outside the forest. Turn left onto the path that leads back into the forest through a gate in the pasture. From here on, the trail is very well marked, so there’s no danger of getting lost. Stay on the gravel road for quite some time, until you notice a turnoff on the left side of the road, which is also indicated by a signpost for Mrzli vrh, near Petrovč. Turn here onto a narrow, ascending trail and follow it all the way to the next fork. At this fork, there’s a sign for Tolmin. Here, we turn left. We continue along the path for just a few dozen meters and then turn right onto a steep trail, as indicated by the trail marker. You’ll recognize the next turn by a large water trough; here, you must continue the trail above the trough (sign for Mrzli vrh). This is followed by an ascent along a narrow, steeply climbing path that first runs through the forest and later opens onto a grassy area. Follow the trail all the way to the summit, which you’ll recognize by a tall cross.
