Getting to the trailhead:

Drive to Tolmin and, at the main traffic-light-controlled intersection, turn toward the village of Zatolmin. When you reach Zatolmin, turn right past the Zatolmin restaurant toward the Tolmin Gorges. From there, drive just a few dozen meters, and at the next fork in the road—right before the Gugala cheese factory—turn left. From there, follow the road, which will take you to the Church of St. Peter in a few minutes. Park here.

Trail description:

We continue on foot along the road, which immediately turns into a gravel road. A longer walk along the road through the forest follows, leading us to a fork where a road branches off to the left toward Sv. Duh na Javorci; we turn there. A steep climb to Planina Srednica follows; the trail continues past the mountain pasture all the way to the church. We go around the church on the left; from here on, the trail levels out somewhat. Further on, we’ll come to two more houses surrounded by a fence. Just before the fence, we take a sharp left onto a gravel path, which levels out and soon turns into a grassy trail. The grassy trail then leads into the forest and crosses a small stream. A longer ascent follows, offering views of the valley and the nearby high mountains, lasting all the way to the small Črče Mountain Pasture. We pass the huts on the mountain pasture on the left and find the trail behind them. Immediately, the trail turns left and leads back into the forest. Another long walk through the forest follows, after which we’ll reach another mountain pasture—Planina Laška seč. We’ll bypass it and continue along the trail. After just a few minutes’ walk, we’ll reach the third mountain pasture—Planina Mederje. We’ll go around the mountain pasture on the upper side and continue along a gravel cart track to a fork in the trail. The trail to the right leads toward Planina Sleme, but we’ll take the left path and descend along the cart track to Planina Pretovč. We’ll find the path ahead on the left side of the hut, where a signpost for Mrzli vrh also directs us. A steep climb up a meadow follows, leading us to a fork in the trail. We continue left along the trail, which climbs steeply and leads to a chapel. We go around the chapel on the left and continue along the ascending trail, which will take us to the summit in a few minutes.
