From Sassari, take the E25 highway heading toward the southern part of the island. Before the village of Birori, merge onto the SS129 toward the town of Nuoro. From there, take the SS389var to the town of Fonni. Continue on the main road, which, after a long drive, will lead you to the parking lot in front of Rifugio Bruncu Spina.
Trail description:From the parking lot, we head onto a narrow trail, which is also indicated by a signpost for Bruncu Spina. The grassy path is mostly flat at first—or climbs almost imperceptibly—and at the beginning of the trail, it also passes through a small grove and a picnic area. We stay on this path for quite some time, all the way to the Arcu Gennargentu saddle. Along the way, we’re treated to beautiful views of the valley and the surrounding peaks. There’s only one trail, so it’s impossible to get lost. When we reach the pass, we turn right onto a trail that begins to climb immediately. We ascend to the top of the ridge, then continue for quite some time along the trail that runs along the ridge. Once again, we’re treated to beautiful views. After a long walk, we’ll spot the Bruncu Spina ski resort, which is our destination. At the upper cable car station, continue straight ahead, past a small green cottage and a fence, along a path that leads to the summit in a few minutes.
