Drive to Tolmin and, at the main traffic-light-controlled intersection, turn toward Zatolmin (right if you’re coming from Ljubljana, or left if you’re coming from Nova Gorica). In Zatolmin, stay on the main road leading toward the Tolmin Gorges and Čadrg. Follow this road straight ahead on the flat stretch at first, then the road begins to wind upward. Follow it all the way to the St. Peter chapel, where you’ll also see a sign for Triglav National Park. There’s a small parking lot by the road here, where you can park.

From the parking lot, we continue along the road into the forest, which soon turns into a gravel road. We continue along this road for quite some time (about 5 km), with the route alternating between ascents, descents, and flat stretches; in some sections, the road is also paved. Along the way, you’ll pass the Laborca mineral spring by the side of the road. Shortly after the spring, the path leads out of the forest, opening up to stunning views of the high mountains. After about 1 kilometer, a narrow road branching off to the left leads to the church; this is where we turn, as indicated by a sign. The road becomes paved again. Shortly after the start of the ascent, we’ll pass a cabin on the left, and then we’ll climb another kilometer up a very steep road, which takes a sharp turn along the way and leads to the memorial church of St. Duh Javorca.
