Getting to the trailhead:

Exit the motorway at the exit for Kamnik. Then continue straight ahead towards the Kamnik Bistrica valley, following the signs for Kamnik Bistrica and Velika Planina. If you follow this route, you will arrive at the Doma v Kamniški Bistrica. Park here and continue on foot.

Trail description:

Start on the macadam road that leads along the right-hand side of the house. The road soon leads into the woods and continues on fairly level ground. When you reach a fork where signs point to the left for Jermanca and right towards Kamniškého sedlo, keep right. Walk along the path, which soon turns slightly right and turns into a forest track. Walk along this path for a while, which leads back to the macadam road. Continue straight up, which is also indicated by the signpost for Kokrsko sedlo. When we reach the next fork, where the sign for Kokrsko sedlo points to the left, we continue straight on the road, which begins to climb in a winding manner. We stick to the main macadam road until it ends, when it is replaced by a narrow forest path, which we join. Continue along the gentle path for a while, when the signpost for Kamniško sedlo will direct you left, onto a winding, ascending path. The climb takes about half an hour and you will reach a small stop called Pastirji. From here on, the path lays down for a few minutes, and we are treated to wonderful views. When we get to the climb again, there is just a longer climb along the grassy foothills, with a simultaneous view of the top of the saddle on which the hut stands, but which is not visible all the way to the top.
