Drive to Tolmin and, at the main traffic-light-controlled intersection, turn toward the village of Zatolmin. When you reach Zatolmin, turn right past the Zatolmin restaurant toward the Tolmin Gorges. From there, drive just a few dozen meters, and at the next possible fork—right before the Gugala cheese factory—turn left. From there, follow the road, which turns into a gravel road past the Church of St. Peter. A longer drive through the forest follows, which, after about half an hour, brings us to a fork where the road to Sv. Duh na Javorci branches off to the left, while we continue straight ahead for a few dozen meters, all the way to the barrier on the road, in front of which we park.

We continue on foot along the road past the barrier, which is initially surrounded by meadows but later leads into the forest. We continue on flat ground for a while, and then the road begins to climb more steeply and wind its way upward. Shortly after crossing another road barrier, the road will fork—here, turn right and descend a few hundred meters to the source of the Tolminka River, located in a large meadow next to which stands the Lovska koča pod Osojnico hunting lodge. From here, continue past a wooden fence and across the meadow to the next marked fork, where you’ll keep left. After just a few dozen meters, the trail will lead you to a weir; keep left here to cross the rocky area. When we reach the meadow again, just before the forest, we’ll see a signpost directing us into the forest. We continue along the forest path for a few more minutes until we reach the small hunting cabin Na Vrtičih.
