If you’re driving on the highway from Ljubljana, take the exit for Kamnik. Immediately after the exit, turn right and continue straight on the road for quite a while, all the way to the village of Podgorje, where, at the roundabout, take the second exit toward Kamnik – center. From there, continue straight for quite a while toward Kamnik; at the intersection, turn left, then immediately right. You’ll cross a small bridge, followed by another left turn. Continue along the road to the village of Soteska, where you’ll reach another fork; turn left here. From here on, it’s just an uphill climb along a winding road until you reach the Črnivec Inn at the Črnivec Pass. There is a large parking lot here where we’ll park.
Trail description:We continue on foot along the paved road past the inn, which turns left immediately after the inn. Trail markers will guide us the entire way, and most of the signs will point toward Menina Planina, which we’ll follow. Soon the road turns into a gravel road, and we continue along it all the way to the first fork, where we take the left path leading toward the Toman farm. At the next fork, we take the right path, which soon leads us into the forest. From here on, a longer climb up a gravel road follows, all the way to the next fork, where we continue straight ahead. The road soon levels out and leaves the forest behind for a short while. At the next fork, turn right and then immediately left, passing a small chapel with a guestbook. A short traverse through a densely forested area with a few fallen spruce trees follows. Soon the trail becomes easier to walk on again and climbs slightly for a short while. When the trail levels out again, a short walk leads to a small clearing. Continue straight through the clearing to a thick tree with a large trail marker. From here on, the trail veers slightly to the left and crosses a hilly meadow. The trail leads us back into the forest, but after just a few minutes, it emerges from the woods again and takes us to the Ravni mountain pasture, where a mountain hut stands. We go around the hut and continue climbing along a grassy path that ascends moderately for a while and leads us back into the forest. The forest path bypasses the peak on our right and takes us to the Travnik mountain pasture. If you want to reach the cabin at the fork, turn left; you’ll first descend along a gravel road and then climb back up it.
